Pooja Hegde was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra on 13 October 1990. She is a native of Mangalore, Karnataka. Pooja was the daughter of Manjunath and Latha hegde. Pooja can speak three languages English, Hindi and Tulu. Pooja completed her education with Commerce (M.Com). She used to work alongwith her mother in network marketing business during her college days. She also participated in several Dance and Fashion shows.

She made her acting debut with Tamil movie Mugamoodi (2012) opposite Jiiva.
