Monali was born in Kolkata, west Bengal. She was from a Bengali music family. Her father and mother both were singers. Whereas her sister Mehuli Thakur Goswami is also a known professional playback singer. She learnt Hindustani classical music. She has learnt hip-hop and Bharatanatyam and is also a trained Salsa dancer. She started her singing career by singing in schools and colleges, various competitions and local functions.
Career:
She used to participate in many shows but the popular show Indian Idol 2 is the one which changed her life. She was eliminated from the show but Music director Anu Malik gave her a singing chance Jann e man and also helped her to build singing career.
Finally, it was music director Pritam Chakraborty who gave her first break in a Hindi film, Race. The songs were ‘Zara Zara Touch Me’ and ‘Khwab Deke Jhuthe Muthe’. Both of the songs were chartbusters. She also received IIFA nomination for the song Zarazara .
She also acted in movies like Lakshmi, krishnakanterwill and love in Nepal.
Personal Life:
She was dating Meiyang Chang but the couple broke-off. Currently, she is very much single and is not dating anyone.
