About Lata Mangeshkar: Lata Mangeshkar is an Indian Play back singer and also a composer some times. She is one of the well-known and respectable singers in India. Her career started in 1942 and continued for 7 decades. She is the elder sister Asha Bosle, Hridayanath Mangeshkar, Meena Mangeshkar and Usha Mangeshkar. She has recorded songs for over a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over thirty-six regional Indian languages and foreign languages. Lata Mangeshkar Early Life and Background:

Lata Mangeshkar was born in a Gomantak Marathafamily, in the princely state of Indore, part of the Central India Agency (now part of Madhya Pradesh). Her fatherDeenanath was a classical singer, who is lata’s first guru.

The family’s last name used to be Hardikar; Deenanath changed it to Mangeshkar in order to identify his family with his native town, Mangeshi in Goa.
Lata was named “Hema” at her birth. Her parents later renamed her Lata after a female character, Latika, in one of her father’s plays, BhaawBandhan.
Lata is the eldest child of her parents. Meena, Asha Bosle, Usha and Hridaynath are her siblings in sequence.
She tried to teach songs for other children on the first day of school which was spotted by teacher and she scolded her. This is the reason she stopped her studies. Other sources say that Lata used to take Asha to school along with her, which was refused by teachers and management. This is the reason she discontinued her studies.

Career:

At the age of 5,she started as actress in his father’s musical plays. She lost her father in 1942 at her 13. Master Vinayak owner of Theatre Company and his father’s friend took care of their family and also helped Lata to start her career in music.
Vinayak gave her a small role in NavyugChitrapat’s Marathi movie PahiliMangalaa-gaur (1942), in which she sang “Natali ChaitraachiNavalaai”
Her first Hindi song was “Mata EkSapoot Ki DuniyaBadal De Tu” for the Marathi film, Gajaabhaau (1943)
Mangeshkar and her sister Asha played minor roles in Vinayak’s first Hindi-language movie, BadiMaa (1945)
After Vinayak’s death in 1948, music director Ghulam Haider mentored her as a singer
Lata herself declared, “Ghulam Haider is truly my Godfather. He was the first music director who showed complete faith in my talent.
initially, Mangeshkar is said to have imitated the acclaimed singer Noor Jehan, but later she developed her own style of singing
She made her debut in Tamil playback singing with Vanaradham in 1956 with Tamil song EnthanKannalanpicturised on Nimmi in the dubbed version composed by Naushad.
In 1973, she won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the song “Beeti Na Bitai” from the film Parichay, composed by R. D. Burman
From the 1970s onwards, Lata Mangeshkar has also staged many concerts in India and abroad, including several charity concerts.
Her first concert overseas was at the Royal Albert Hall, London, in 1974.
She also released an album of Mirabai’s bhajans, ChalaVaahi Des, composed by her brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar.
Some of the bhajans in the album include “Saanware Rang Raachi” and “UdJaa Re Kaaga”.
In the early 1970s, she released other non-film albums, such as her collection of Ghalibghazals, an album of Marathi folk songs (koli-geete), an album of Ganesh aartis (all composed by her brother Hridaynath) and an album of abhangs of SantTukaram composed by Shrinivas Khale.
She has sung 30000 songs in various languages and won many awards and had a successful career for 7 decades.

Personal Life:

Lata’s marital status is unmarried. It is impossible to find the real answer that whyLatha didn’t get married? But there are many sources saying different reasons. One is that she as whole bread earner for the family from childhood she never got free of those responsibilities which made her forget about marriage.

Some other sources which were not verified and have limited references say that Latha and Music Director C. Ramachandra (also known as Chitalkar) fell in love with each other. They together worked for many movies and songs. Age difference between them that is 18 years stopped them from getting marriage. This made lata remain unmarried lifelong.
