Singer Kavitha Krishnamurthy’s Profile:  Kavitha Krishnamurthy is a Indian Playback singer. She a well trained classical singer and so sung many songs based on classical. She worked with many famous music directors . She is receiver of 4 film fare awards in which 3 were in consecutive years 1994, 1995, 1996. She also received Padma sri in 2005.

About Kavitha:

kavitha was born in Tamil Iyer family. Her birth name was sharada Krishnamurthy. She began her music training upon insistence of her aunt, Ms. Protimma Bhattacharya who enrolled her to Ms. Suruma Basu, who taught her Rabindra Sangeet. She began her formal training in Hindustani classical music under Balram Puri, a classical singer. At the young age of eight, Kavita won a gold medal at a music competition. She won many medals participating in the Inter-Ministry Classical Competition in New Delhi in the mid 1960s.

Career:

During her College days at St. Xavier College, Mumbai, she got an opportunity to record a Tagore song in Bengali with Lata Mangeshkar under the auspices of the music composer and singer Hemant Kumar.

She sung for advertisement jingles in the beginning. With her aunt’s contacts she used get introductions and few opportunities.

In 1978, she first sang the Kannada song “Ondanondu kaaladalli” in the film Ondanondu kaaladalli

Kavitha Krishna Murthy married Violinist Dr. L. Subrahmanyam in Bangalore on 11^th November 1999. The couple has no children. Subramanyam has 4 children from his previous marriage.

Kavita and her husband have started music institute, called the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts in Bengaluru in 2007.

In March 2013, she launched her own app which is available for free download in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store
