Mobile Number Portability Process for All Operators

    This blog gives complete information of Mobile number portability (MNP). The below steps are MNP procedure which you need to follow, these are the simple and same steps of which you will find on most of the telecom operator’s website too.

    • Firstly, from your any telecommunication service mobile send a message as PORT <space> Mobile Number to 1900

    For example, send SMS like PORT 9999991605 and send this message to 1900. You will receive a UPC Code of a message. Note it down. The UPC is validity up to 15 days.

    UPC means Unique Porting code

    • Now you went to the nearest Customer care service centre of your using service number operator or the retailer of the operator you want to shift to and fill the Form and pay just 19 rupees only.

    IN THE FORM THEY HAVE SOME CONDITIONS ARE GIVEN BELOW:-

    • Here mention the UPC Code in the form.
    • Submit your Identity
    • Address Proof and Photograph
    • For Corporate/Company connections an NOC is required for Mobile number portability (MNP), duly signed and stamped on the company letterhead by the authorized signatory of the company along with the other documents.
    • Now from your using Customer care centre will give an empty new sim, after your 19 rupees payment and document submission. Within one day you will receive an acceptance message to confirm the porting from your service number.
    • Change over takes place on the seventh working day. You will get an SMS from the operator with the date and time for porting. This service activation time shall be around 2 hrs during night time of the date/time of porting.
    • Insert the new sim in your mobile, now you are in the new network with the old

    The process of mobile no Portability for both prepaid and postpaid service number connections, in this mobile number portability porting a prepaid sim card is the faster than postpaid.

    From your mobile once you ported to a new operator, the time must be taken nearly to stay with the new operator is three months. So in this three months time, you cannot port your number once again. Also, number portability currently is possible only within your telecommunication services.

    • For an example of MNP process is MH circle number cannot be ported to KA circle, It can be ported from say Reliance-MH to idea-MH only.

    Also, MNP process can be used in case you want to do Transfer of Ownership as well. In this case, all you need to do is submit the documents from above given of the new owner to the new operator while doing the above MNP procedure. Transfer of Ownership is a very tricky procedure and each operator has his own set of rules which they follow.

    • For example, Operator A will charge you some amount as a transfer fee, Operator B will refuse Transfer of Ownership since it does not add here to some of its policy.

    In India, we have more than eight telecom operators and this MNC process is very operator specific.
